"This airline is absolutely terrible - I strongly advise against using it."
I flew from Manchester to Toronto on August 28th, with a connecting flight from JFK. I experienced a great deal of incompetence as no one was able to inform me about the whereabouts of my luggage, despite multiple attempts to inquire. The staff provided false information regarding the location of my luggage, and on the third day, I am still waiting for a response in Toronto, with no sign of my luggage. This airline is the worst, as they have lied about my suitcase and I am still waiting for a resolution. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed. 😡😡😡😡😡

I had an absolutely amazing experience on my recent flight with Virgin Atlantic. The cabin crew, especially Senior Flight Attendant Priya, delivered outstanding service from start to finish. The in-flight entertainment choices were varied and kept me thoroughly entertained. The sophisticated flying experience provided by Virgin Atlantic always makes me feel like a highly valued passenger!

We took an overnight flight from LAX to London in Premium Economy. The leather seats were decent, but I was taken aback when the flight attendants started serving drinks before the boarding process was complete, causing chaos as passengers tried to find their seats. The meals were the most disappointing aspect. We had requested special meals due to dietary restrictions, yet both dinners turned out to be the same, consisting of rice, despite us selecting different options. To make matters worse, the breakfast served before landing was also the same as the dinner, with rice! It's clear that their food provider needs to improve, as they seem unable to distinguish between dinner and breakfast.
The flight attendants were friendly enough, but the service was subpar for a premium seat. There was no follow-up with drinks or snacks. I wouldn't choose to fly with them again, especially in premium class. It simply isn't worth the money.

"The customer service provided was truly exceptional."
I recently took a trip with my family on Virgin Atlantic Upper class from Johannesburg to London. Unfortunately, my daughter became ill just before check-in and was unable to fly. The Virgin ground crew went above and beyond to assist us by getting her to the airport's medical clinic and providing support to my wife and son, who ended up flying alone. They even took the initiative to rebook us on the next day's flight without us having to ask, and they handled all the necessary confirmations. To top it off, they managed to find us two seats together.

Lately, we have had terrible experiences with customer service from other airlines, particularly EasyJet, who have been cancelling and delaying flights without any consideration or assistance for passengers, leaving us with significant unexpected expenses. Therefore, it was incredibly refreshing to see an airline like Virgin genuinely care for its passengers and go above and beyond to support us, even though the situation was not their fault.

I cannot praise Virgin enough for the outstanding customer service we received. As a result, we have decided to exclusively choose this airline for all our future trips to South Africa. Their service is truly exceptional.

I recently had the opportunity to fly with VA from LHR to LAX in premium economy, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. It was my first time flying with them, and the service was incredibly attentive. Throughout the entire flight, we were well taken care of. I have never been offered such a generous amount of food and drink on a flight before; it was truly outstanding. In fact, I had to decline the ice lolly they offered because I had already eaten so much!

Subsequently, I flew premium economy with another airline that is often ranked highly. However, I must admit that I don't understand how they receive such high ratings. After experiencing VA's service, the other airline felt quite basic in comparison.

I must give credit where it is due, so hats off to you, VA.

"Please read this before upgrading."
I don't want to waste any more time with Virgin, so I'll give a brief summary of the issues I encountered to help others avoid them.

Premium economy: I booked this cabin for a round trip. One seat was broken, so we had to move to a seat we didn't want (next to the toilet). I saw a lady upgrade from economy to premium without paying by claiming she had a bad hip. There was no premium check-in due to a baggage drop trial at Manchester airport, so it took longer than economy. Our bags were not marked as premium, so we didn't get faster bag collection in Florida.

On the return flight, they tried to charge us £81 for a heavy bag, even though we had a baggage allowance of 23kg x 2 per person and only had one bag each. There was no breakfast on the return flight because the crew thought I had moved to economy for a sleep, even though I stayed in my seat the whole flight. Four people were upgraded on this flight without paying. The seat map showed nobody sitting in the row in front, but a crew member moved four people into those seats shortly before takeoff.

In short, we didn't receive the benefits we paid for.

Customer service: I sent several emails and made phone calls, but never received any promised call backs. They offered 10k points as compensation, which I declined, but they credited them anyway and considered the matter settled. I requested another call and listed all the issues we faced. Virgin emailed back, selectively making excuses for some issues but ignoring others. I was lied to by two different employees.

One positive experience: The check-in manager in the US was amazing and did her best to help with the situation on the return flight. She even shook her head when I explained what happened, so I think she knew how poorly we were treated.

In summary, I do not recommend flying with Virgin, especially not paying for the upgrade unless you just want a smaller cabin and a leather seat. Realistically, those are the only things you get (if your seat works). If you want a premium experience from Manchester to the US, I suggest trying another airline like TUI or Aer Lingus.

All I wanted to do was reserve a seat for my wife's return flight. However, all I received was an error message, despite them still charging me. The initial representative I spoke with advised me to try again after midnight, so I stayed up late only to find that it still didn't work. Eventually, I spoke with a second representative who informed me that I couldn't book a seat, even though the option was still available on the website.

"I had an amazing experience with Great Flights."
I recently flew with Virgin for the first time in years, traveling to SFO and returning from LAX. I must say, both flights were absolutely fantastic. The only minor issue I encountered was that my pre-ordered food didn't arrive as expected. However, the substitute provided was satisfactory.

"What has become of Virgin?"
What on earth happened to Virgin? On the 25th of June 2022, my flight was delayed for over 30 hours. Can you believe it? We were left to sleep on the cold airport floor because the airline claimed there were no available hotels. As someone who frequently flies and even chooses upper class flights, I can confidently say that I will never, ever fly with Virgin Atlantic again! I've sent countless emails over the past year, but have received absolutely no response. The complete lack of consideration, disrespect, and discrimination towards passengers traveling to Africa is absolutely unacceptable. I can't help but wonder if this would have ever happened if the flight was headed to the US.
